The short version
TallyTakeoff is a set of free calculators. There is nothing to sign up for, and the site does not ask you for your name, your email, or your address. The measurements and prices you type into a calculator are worked out in your own browser and are not sent anywhere — unless you deliberately press Copy share link, which is the one feature that stores anything on our side.
The rest of this page explains that in detail, including the parts most privacy policies leave vague: exactly what a share link saves, exactly what your browser keeps on your device, and what changes if advertising is switched on later.

TallyTakeoff is independently owned and operated — see the about page for who is behind it and how the calculators are built. Questions about privacy, or any request described under your rights, go to hello@tallytakeoff.com, which is read by a person, not a ticketing system.
What happens when you use a calculator
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. When you type a slab length, a fence run, a roof pitch, or a price per bag, that number is used by JavaScript on the page you already loaded. It is not transmitted to a server, it is not logged, and it is not attached to you.
A practical consequence worth knowing: because the maths happens locally, closing the tab discards it. Nothing on our side remembers that you priced a patio.
What your browser stores on your device
Some calculators remember the prices you edit, so you do not have to retype your local supplier's numbers on every visit. That preference is written to your browser's local storage — a store that lives on your own device. It is not a cookie, it is never transmitted with a request, and we cannot read it.
The keys currently used are:
tt-concrete-prefs,tt-slabcost-prefs,tt-gravel-prefs,tt-paver-prefs,tt-fence-prefs,tt-drywall-prefs,tt-roofing-prefs— each holds the price and unit settings you last used on that calculator, and nothing else.
You can delete all of it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings. The calculators fall back to their published defaults.
Share links — the one thing stored on our server
If you press Copy share link, the calculator sends its current inputs to our server so that the link you paste to a builder, a partner, or your own phone can rebuild the same estimate. That is the only route by which anything you type leaves your browser, and it only happens when you press the button.
A saved estimate consists of exactly four things:
- A random short code — the six characters in the URL. It is generated randomly and is not derived from you, your device, or your session.
- Which calculator it came from — for example
concrete-calculator. - The inputs themselves — dimensions, quantities, unit choices, and the prices you entered or accepted.
- When it was created — so it can be deleted on schedule.
No name, email address, IP address, account, device identifier, or location is stored alongside a saved estimate, and there is nothing in the record that links two estimates to the same person. Saved estimates are deleted after 180 days. Anyone holding the link can open it during that window, so treat a share link the way you would treat any unlisted URL — it is unguessable, not secret. Technical data from serving the page
Like every website, delivering a page requires our hosting provider to receive the request, which necessarily includes your IP address and the browser's user-agent string. This is processed to serve the page, keep the site available, and defend against abuse. TallyTakeoff does not build profiles from it, does not join it to anything else on this page, and does not sell or share it.
Analytics
This site currently runs no analytics. No measurement script is loaded and no page-level statistics are collected about you.
If analytics is added later, the intent recorded in this project's own documentation is a cookieless, privacy-preserving measurement service that reports aggregate page counts without tracking individuals across sites. This page will be updated to name the provider before any such script ships, and the "last reviewed" date above will change.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own, and loads no third-party script that could set one. There is no consent banner because, as the site currently stands, there is nothing to consent to.
The device storage described above is not a cookie: it stays on your machine and is never sent with a request. If cookies are introduced with advertising, the section below applies and a consent mechanism will ship at the same time.
Advertising
No ads are served on this site today, and no advertising code is loaded. TallyTakeoff is intended to be supported by display advertising in future, and this section describes what will change when that happens — stated in advance so the position is on the record rather than added quietly later.
When advertising is enabled:
- Ads are expected to be served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- You will be able to opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and for participating vendors generally at aboutads.info. Opting out does not remove ads; it makes them non-personalized.
- For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, a consent mechanism will be presented before any advertising cookie is set, and ad and analytics storage will default to denied until a choice is made.
- Ads will never be placed inside a calculator, between its controls and its results, or anywhere they could be mistaken for part of an estimate.

Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data held about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive a portable copy, and — where applicable — opt out of its sale or sharing. In the EEA and UK these are the rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR; in California, under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA; comparable rights exist in several other jurisdictions.
In practice, TallyTakeoff holds very little to exercise them against. There are no accounts, so there is no profile to export or delete. Preference data sits on your own device and is cleared through your browser. The only record on our side is a saved estimate, and it carries no identifier connecting it to you — which means we generally cannot look up "your" estimates, only a specific code you supply.
To make a request, email hello@tallytakeoff.com, including the share code if your request is about a saved estimate. We do not charge for this and will not ask you to create an account in order to ask. TallyTakeoff does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for a general adult audience planning building work. It is not directed at children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age where you live, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information — realistically, only via email — contact us and it will be deleted.
Links to other sites
Calculator and guide pages cite categories of reference material, and may link to manufacturer installation guides, trade handbooks, or code authorities. Following such a link takes you to a site with its own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. No personal data is passed to those sites by the act of linking.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last reviewed" date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes — a new analytics provider, the introduction of advertising, any new category of stored data — will be described here rather than folded in silently.
